  • Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations

  • Should have a proven ability to relate to individuals at all levels with poise and diplomacy, triage and set priorities, and display discretion when working with sensitive information.

  • Advanced relevant technical and software skills, including but not limited to the Microsoft Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).

  • Experience with website content management platforms, AI- powered assistants, and training software, including CampusPress, Amazon Q, ChatGPT, CoPilot, Articulate products, and Canva.

  • Mac and PC literacy.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience; and project management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, high-energy environment; and to work independently.

Position Description:Financial Administration (FAD) is dedicated to advancing Harvard University’s teaching and research mission by stewarding its resources; providing support, guidance, and consultation; ensuring compliance with University and federal guidelines; mitigating risk; pursuing operational excellence; and promoting the financial health of the University.

The Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP) is a department within Harvard University’s Financial Administration that is focused on providing high-quality administrative and financial assistance to faculty and other University affiliates performing sponsored research. OSP works with researchers across Harvard to help obtain and negotiate awards from sponsoring agencies, assist with grant proposal preparation, ensure compliance with federal regulations and University policies, provide financial support including financial reporting and billing and collection services, and promote knowledge of sponsored research administration throughout the University research community.

Harvard University encompasses thirteen separate schools, including Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, various research institutes, and other graduate schools. Its researchers are supported by $1 billion in sponsored funding per year to conduct cutting-edge exploration in medicine, energy and climate studies, the social sciences, and a vast array of other areas. OSP works to support and promote the vision of this dynamic and growing research community by assisting researchers, sponsors, and staff in matters of stewardship, compliance, and training.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Training and Compliance, the Design and Production Lead supports the following activities in the Office for Sponsored Programs:

  • Lead in the creation, revision, design and execution of the strategic direction for the overall University training portfolio.

  • Applies principles and practices of instructional design and adult learning theory in the design, creation and delivery of online, blended and instructor-led classroom training courses and documentation.

  • Conduct learning and business needs analysis.

  • Advise on resource requirements and project timelines; and subject matter experts to draft expected learning outcomes that align with course goals.

  • Evaluate the scope and sequence of content, course evaluation plans and course efficacy.

  • Write effective copy, instructional materials, and audio and video scripts to help participants meet learning objectives.

  • Produce learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and multimedia.

  • Analyze results of surveys used to measure program efficacy, reputation, and demographics, to provide information that will guide and influence future training and updates to current training.

  • Keep current and update the sponsored training community on trends in training software, digital accessibility requirements and instructional design best practices.

  • Oversee the use of AI technology platforms to expedite the development of training and resources in training and design software.

  • Represent the OSP Training team on University and/or external committees.

  • Facilitate training and program sessions as needed.

  • Develop and deliver train-the-trainer programs.

  • Provide training on instructional technologies and tools.

This position has been designated as a primarily remote position (1 day on site per quarter). While this position is primarily remote, travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only).
