Position Summary/Description:

The successful candidate is expected to provide consultative clinical care to immunocompromised patients and to programmatic components of the ICHID program. They are also expected to excel in additional areas with support from the division. These additional areas may include research, antimicrobial stewardship, hospital epidemiology, or outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy ( OPAT ).

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine is recruiting for an Open Rank faculty member to join our growing Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases ( ICHID ) Program. The UNC ICHID program provides consultative care to patients with solid organ transplants, ventricular assist devices, hematologic malignancies, hematopoietic stem cell transplants and burn patients. Our staff performs more than 140 solid organ transplants, 50 ventricular assist device placements, and 175 stem cell transplants annually. In addition, we have a 21 bed burn ICU with 600 admissions annually.

The Division of Infectious Diseases is comprised of 26 clinician investigators who practice in an 800-bed hospital including a new 50-bed cancer hospital and receive more than $30 million annually in research grants.

Education and Experience:

Demonstrated success in clinical care and research. In addition to providing consultative clinical care to immunocompromised patients, the successful candidate is expected to develop a successful research career with support from the Division.
