IHG Marketing Specialist in San Diego, California

We’re looking for a new Marketing Specialist to oversee and support implementation of the hotel marketing strategy - including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and Public Relations for the hotel; tactical plans are created and implemented; and that results are monitored and achieved.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

  • Support budgeted revenues and help maximize profitability within all areas of responsibility.

  • Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, successful execution the hotel marketing & business plan, as well as financial plans which support the overall objectives of the hotel.

  • Help identify operational opportunities that impact the effectiveness of marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with appropriate department heads on proactive marketing solutions.

  • Work closely with the Hotel Sales team; enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials, and presentations.

  • Work with the Director of Sales & Marketing to drive effective digital marketing plans to increase traffic and engagement with new, prospective customers, building a “best customer” program that enables consumers to become passionate brand advocates, while also driving cross-category purchases

  • Leverage the use of marketing analytics to provide insights and make recommendations to reach the customer in new ways to improve marketing ROI recommendations and overall strategies.

  • Review/Create or produce advertising, print and other media for the hotel. Work with advertising agencies, consulting firms and vendors to maximize advertising investments and ensure ads represent brand identity and are appropriate for target audience.

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include all hotel departments, hotel Executive Committee, and corporate/regional sales group.

  • Support and help manage the project pipeline for Food & Beverage team.

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups including the local city’s Tourism and similar organizations to drive awareness and traffic to the hotel brand website.

  • Work to maximize IHG system contribution:

  • WEB – independent and brand.com production

  • Monitor and direct IHG Performance Marketing as appropriate.

  • Update Concerto Content Management system and 3 rd party sites (Google, TripAdvisor…etc.) with current and accurate information

  • Digital Marketing, social media, and eCommerce focus with 3 rd party partners:

  • Social listening impact on key sites

  • Website SEO, PPC and overall delivery

  • Expand Social Media reach as impact on delivery expands.

  • Work with Manager/Director to create communications strategies that will broaden programmatic reach and deepen impact. Review and provide guidance on internal and external materials such as media pitches, media lists, key message documents, agendas, etc.

  • Execute on-property guest messaging, offers, promotions and update digital/print signage as necessary.

  • Oversee influencer marketing campaigns with celebrities, social media stars and bloggers, to ensure that the team identifies the right targets and develops engaging content that helps reach key objectives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we need from you:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, and 1 – 2 years total experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting, with direct supervisory experience over a sales and/or marketing team, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. New hotel opening experience preferred. Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Frequently standing up or moving within and outside of the facility

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds

  • Handling objects

Other:

  • Demonstrated effective and/or persuasive verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management, and staff.

  • Demonstrated expertise in digital marketing.

  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instructions, and training.

  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently.

  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.

  • Ability to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc.

  • May require a valid Driver’s License.

  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

What you can expect from us:

The hourly pay range for this role is $25.00 to $28.00. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at InterContinental San Diego . This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.

Note: No amount of pay is wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
